π€ What comes after net-zero? And should you care?
β οΈ The IPCC is clear: we have to achieve net-zero CO2 by 2050. This is and has been the global rallying cry since 2018. π What is less talked about: net-zero is not enough. Because every credible IPCC 1.5 Β°C and most 2 Β°C pathway assumes we overshoot our carbon budget β and must therefore spend part of the second half of the century removing more COβ than we emit. Some governments have already recognised it and are proactively developing roadmaps for this net-negativity. πΈοΏ½
