🇪🇺 €30m in EU funding for DACCS and marine CDR 🇪🇺

🌅 Time to put the distractions from the last days behind us and focus on building instead! The European Commission, through its flagship R&D Horizon Europe programme, has just issued two exciting calls for proposals for CDR:

🌊 OCEAN

The first call is looking to fund two projects with around €6m each focused on scientific assessments of ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) and monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) for marine CDR more broadly.

🗓️ Deadline: September 16th.

🌬️ AIR

The second call will fund three projects also with roughly €6m each focused on next-generation direct air and point source capture technologies, specifically those that reduce energy/water usage.

🗓️ The call will open on September 16th and close February 17th 2026.

🤞 While it's not the billions we need to scale the sector as a whole–fingers crossed for tomorrow’s workshop–this will be a meaningful sum for 4-5 European CDR projects.
