🇪🇺🚨 BREAKING: EU Votes to Strengthen hashtag#EnvironmentalClaims 🚨🇪🇺

🗳️ In today’s vote on the Green Claims Directive (hashtag#GCD), MEPs made strong progress on defining how companies can make environmental claims. The draft report was adopted with 85 Yes and 2 No votes (14 abstentions) by the ENVI and IMCO Committees of the European Parliament

🛡️ The proposal specifies that companies can still make environmental claims if they have already reduced their emissions as much as possible and use carbon credits for residual emissions only. These credits must be certified, as established under the Carbon Removals Certification Framework (hashtag#CRCF).

💚 This marks yet another important step in the EU’s ambition to lead the way globally in regulating environmental claims. Done right, this could prevent hashtag#greenwashing and protect consumers, all whilst driving billions of euros of investment by corporations into the green transition.

On this important day, we at Carbonfuture have decided to write up our insights into a dedicated blog post: “From Greenwashing to Green Trust: The State of European Environmental Claims Regulation”.

In the post, we cover:

🌍 What are environmental claims?

📑 How is the EU currently regulating environmental claims?

💪 How can we strengthen environmental claims in the EU?

🚗 The road ahead

Very keen to hear your take. Do you agree with our assessment? Are we missing something?
