📣 🇪🇺 Calling for tech-openness in the EU ETS 🇪🇺 📣

💬 The European Commission is currently consulting on the future of the Emissions Trading System (ETS) – and whether, how, and WHICH types of permanent carbon dioxide removal (CDR) will be integrated.

💡 This is a once-in-a-decade opportunity to shape the rules that will scale permanent CDR from kilotons to gigatons. But early signals suggest only DACCS and BECCS may be included – a narrow view that risks locking out other high-integrity approaches.

❗Instead, we are calling for a tech-open integration: if it’s certified under the CRCF as a permanent removal, it should be eligible. Full stop.

🔊 That’s why we’re launching an open letter to the Commission urging tech-openness in any CDR-compliance market integration. Already, 120+ companies from around the world have signed on – and we’re aiming for hundreds more by the July 8th deadline.
