šŸ˜” Climate folks, we're better than this.

šŸ“ˆ Last Friday, an infographic by Propublica went absolutely viral here on LinkedIn. It made a simple point: CCS and CDR suck.

😔 I was irritated to say the least.

Starting with the obvious. The infographic - and the accompanying blog post - weren’t great…

1ļøāƒ£ It conflated various concepts into one: CCS / DACCS / CDR

2ļøāƒ£ It cherrypicked data for dramatic effect, e.g. on historic CCS deployments/capacity

ā˜€ļø Yes, solar and renewables are great - I am all for them. But now - in 2026 - we know they won’t suffice. We will need other solutions for hard-to-abate and residual emissions. Period.

But above all, here is what really gets me:

šŸŒ Why do people working in climate keep bashing others who share their same objective of preserving a liveable planet?

šŸ”Ø Why this constant need to put others down to elevate your own arguments?

šŸ‘ And why do people love/share this type of content so much?

🄊 The infighting has to stop. We’ve got a bigger fight: There is a whole world of climate change deniers and even more people who remain entirely indifferent to this crisis.

šŸ° The last thing we should be doing is to fight over slices of an ever-decreasing cake. Instead, we HAVE to drop this behaviour, champion what we are passionate about, and fight for a bigger cake, together.

šŸ¤“ Also, for anyone who wants to actually understand the realities of CCS and not just clickbaity content like this, I highly recommendĀ Jack Andreasen CavanaughĀ substack - linked in the comments.

šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø Rant over, back to building.
