🔥 How biochar can help prevent wildfires 🔥

🤯 Here is a mind-blowing stat: 3.9 million square kilometers - a surface larger than India - burnt in the 2023/24 wildfire season releasing 8.8 gigatons (!) of CO2.

💵 Besides the insane environmental devastation, this also means huge and hard to quantify human suffering and economic damages. January’s California fires alone are estimated to have caused $250b.

💡 What if I told you that there is a solution which can help us mitigate wildfires all across the globe? This is where climate’s swiss army knife, biochar, comes in.

🪨 With biochar, we tackle wildfires from two ends: first, it provides a business model to finance the costly retrieval of hazardous biomass from forests which fuel these fires. Secondly, its water retaining properties can increase moisture in soils and reduce the risks.

💚 And the cherry on top? While we do all of that we also remove carbon from the atmosphere to undo some of the damages done by previous wildfires.

👀 Sounds too good to be true, right? Check out my latest article on the Carbonfuture Magazine to dive into the details and find out how companies like Charm Industrial are already making this vision a reality: https://lnkd.in/dzQf32jb

🌏 Make this go far and wide. We need to make policy makers across the world aware of the huge untapped potential of using biochar to prevent wildfires.
