🤖 Is AI taking over carbon removal jobs? No: 40% of jobs in CDR are for junior roles.
Updated: 10 minutes ago

🗞️ I love a bit of good news to start the week. So here you go:
🙋🏻 Of the 590 open roles on the CDRjobs board today, 228 are for people with 0-2 years of experience. That’s almost 4 in 10 jobs open to people at the very start of their careers.
🎓 Everywhere you look right now, people are saying AI is wiping out junior and graduate roles. Entry-level jobs are drying up, and new grads are being told there’s no way in. Not in carbon removal.
So why is CDR still hiring junior talent? A couple of hypotheses:
✅ It’s a young industry that’s still building. Companies need people, whether that’s on the ground, in the lab, in the field and at the plant, or behind the laptop connecting it all together.
✅ A lot of CDR work is hands-on and physical: site operations, engineering, sampling. That’s hard to automate.
âś… Startups are scaling fast and need people they can train up and grow with them.
💙 At CDRjobs, our mission has always been to make it easy for talent to find ALL roles in carbon removal. If you’re a student, a recent grad, or thinking about switching into climate work, this is your sign. The door is open.
🎉 I am also very proud that CDRjobs just passed 10,000 followers.
🎢 It’s been a wild CDR ride since we first started back in May 2024, full of ups and downs that we’ve experienced with you all along the way
🙌 A huge thank you to all 10,000 of you who follow, share, apply and hire through CDRjobs.
And a big shout-out to the team who make it happen every day Pierre NOËL, Tank Chen, Helen Lundebye, Polar A., and Roden Sherpa.
