💶 It is the #EU's main funding programme for research and innovation with a total budget of €95.5 billion from 2021 to 2027. It actively addresses climate change and sustainability challenges through various financial instruments.
Below are some of the highlights:
🌿 Destination 1 - This is dedicated to climate, energy, and mobility with a focus on climate and biodiversity research with €103 million in funding in 2023-2024 aimed to tackle the pressing environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.
🏭 Destination 2 - For energy supply projects with an allocation of €246 million in 2023-2024, including funding for projects related to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and supports a variety of Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) to enhance innovation in energy technologies.
☁️ Most notably, it's launching a €15 million grant in 2024 to promote advancements in CDR technologies - including Direct Air Capture (DAC) and Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) technologies - with hopes to elevate their TRL to ensure the EU can achieve carbon neutrality.
❗ More grants can be found here that incorporate some CDR, such as on sustainable construction materials. https://lnkd.in/dNhBHW8J. A lot of deadlines are approaching in March, so have a look!
👏 As I posted on Monday, to scale CDR effectively - and economically - we need robust policy support to help drive that cost down. Therefore I am glad to see an increase in publicly funded CDR-oriented grants in the EU.
