šŸ˜Ž Senator Josh Becker is the stuff of CDR legends

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡² He has been pioneering CDR before it was cool. And if anywhere is going to scale carbon removal in the U.S., my bet is still on California.

āœ… If it were a country, t would be the 4th largest economy in the world.

āœ… It has a 2045 net-zero target.

āœ… And crucially, it has actually quantified the need: 75 Mt of removals by 2045.

šŸ›ļø Sure, last year’s veto by governor Newsom of the $50M state procurement program hurt. But behind the scenes, something more structural (and arguably more powerful) is happening: integrating CDR into the state’s Cap-and-Invest system and building an ecosystem that can crowd in private capital.

šŸ¤” So what’s really going on?

🤩 For the next episode of CDR Policy Scoop, Eve Tamme and I sit down with State Senator Josh Becker to unpack:

ā—¾What happened with the veto

ā—¾What is still moving forward

ā—¾The Senator’s experience as a policy pioneer

ā—¾What other states (and countries) can learn from this

šŸŽ™ļø As always, expect a 30-minute deep dive into how climate policy actually gets built. One bill at a time.

šŸ—“ļøYou do want to miss the conversation with this legend on Monday, February 16th: šŸ•˜ 9am PT | 12pm ET | 5pm GMT | 6pm CET:Ā https://lnkd.in/dqkVrY-n

šŸ‘‡ If you have thoughts or questions about California’s approach, drop them below - we’ll try to bring them into the conversation.
