šŸ‘€ What’s happening with Article 6.4?

ree

🌐 The big news out of last year’s COP29 in Baku was the unanimous approval of a crediting methodology for Article 6.4 (AKA The Paris Agreement Crediting mechanism– or PACM). This was a huge step toward operationalising a global VCM governed by the UN.

šŸ”Ž Since then, the Supervisory Body has been working on the nitty-gritty stuff to determine exactly how the mechanism works in practice. This has huge implications as it will also influence the market far beyond Article 6.4, by operationalising what counts as "high-integrity" in the VCM and future compliance markets.

šŸ’¬ The Paris Agreement Crediting mechanism hashtag#PACM hashtag#Article6.4 is going through another round of public consultations, and we’ve been getting a lot of questions, particularly regarding the impact of the proposed approach on various carbon removal methods. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

🤩 This is certainly a complex topic, so to help us navigate this, Eve Tamme and I are thrilled to welcome one of the masterminds behind the draft standard, Danny Cullenward onto the CDR Policy Scoop. He’s a member of the PACM Methodological Expert Panel and a global carbon markets expert.

šŸŽ™ļø So tune in as we discuss what’s in the current draft standard, navigate the process and next steps, and explore what this all means for building international carbon markets under the hashtag#ParisAgreement.

šŸ—“ļø So be to hit us with your questions in and join us on Wednesday, 30th of July at 9 am PDT | 1 pm EST | 6 pm CEST:

šŸ‘‡ Here’s your chance to ask the hard questions! Be sure to ask away in the comments and we will be sure to include it in the show.
