🤔 Did I get it all wrong?

🔄 No surprises here: I’ve been a passionate advocate for the inclusion of carbon removals into the EU’s Emission Trading System (and other ETSs around the world).
🤝 There is another way, though. One which I have personally barely covered and which could prove to be much more effective in scaling this much-needed CDR industry: a removal compliance system.
📑 Carbon Gap is unveiling its new report next week, examining a different path to drive long-term demand for permanent carbon removals across Europe. A new mode of compliance, the Removal Compliance System (RCS), looks at both traditional emissions-based obligations and economy-wide mandates.
🎙️ So I’m thrilled that Eve Tamme and I will get the chance dig more into this with Francesca Battersby, Senior Policy Analyst at Carbon Gap and the lead author of the report on the CDR Policy Scoop.
🗓️ Register now for the CDR Policy Scoop, Tuesday 7th October at 9am PDT 🇺🇸 / noon EDT 🇺🇸 / 6pm CEST 🇪🇺 https://lnkd.in/dgT8MB-D
❓ What is your take? Do you think an RTS is desirable and - if so - politically achievable? Or should we continue to focus fully on ETS integration?
