🇩🇪 As many of you know, carbon removal in Germany is a passion project of mine. I fundamentally believe that Europe’s biggest economy - and the country I grew up in - can and will play a central role in scaling CDR.
👉 This is why I founded the Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE) two years ago and acted as its first Board Chair.
✅ In this period, we managed to set-up a well-funded organisation with over 60 members - basically the entire German ecosystem. And, more importantly, we put CDR on the map in Berlin, leading to numerous policy breakthroughs.
🎯 Last week, I was elected for a second two-year term as the DVNE Chair. This means the world to me. The way I see it, we spent the last two years laying the foundations. Now, we have the know-how, networks, and resources needed to strike.
🌟 And the policy window is opening. If you follow me, this will be old news, but the recently elected government has made CDR a priority and I am confident we will see major developments in the coming months and years - watch this space.
👏 I would like to thank all members for their continued trust in me: I will give it everything I got. I would also like to congratulate my fellow board members: vice-chair Lisa Mangertseder, Magnus Drewelies, Carolin Judith Juliane Güthenke, Stefanie Hauer, and Aaron Neuville. What a dream team to turn Germany into a CDR global powerhouse.
💪 Auf geht’s!
