Jack changed my mind. Will he change yours?

⛽ I used to have a pretty clear opinion on the role of oil and gas on the way to net zero: boycott and phase out basically.
🫣 This is a very commonly held stance in the climate bubble. It is also one that is not particularly helpful.
📉 Of course, we need to phase out fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
⚠️ However, given the massive dependence of humanity on fossil fuels, there can be no net zero without decarbonising this sector.
⚖️ And not all actors are the same: some are clearly leading the way towards a cleaner future while others don’t care. We should be praising the former and not treat them all the same.
