🧭 Navigating Net Zero with Alexia Kelly recently did an episode with Tisha Schuller on on Real Climate Progress and the Messy Middle. She’s an environmental activist turned strategic advisor to the oil and gas industry. 🫣 Sounds uncomfortable right? This is exactly the type of conversations we need to be having. Like it or not.
🌎 Her argument, roughly: the climate community's refusal to engage constructively with oil and gas isn't principled. It's counterproductive.
🛢️ She's not asking anyone to love the industry. She's asking whether you want emissions to go down or not.
A couple of my favourite quotes from Tisha:
🗣️ "If you want a world that gets better, there have to be exit strategies—for people, for businesses, for industries."
🗣️ "Has this become a religion? Am I faithful to my religion, rather than committed to progress?"
🗣️ "I personally think we got it wrong. We got the narrative wrong. We got the message wrong. We got the policies largely wrong."
