๐ฎ๐น Italy gets its own CDR association - but does it need it?
๐ On Tuesday, the Rete Italiana Rimozione Carbonio (RIRC) was launched amidst the beautiful 600 years old frescoes of the Scuole della Carita in Padova. ๐๐ป If you follow me, you know I love a CDR association. So much so, that Iโve personally founded my fair share in the CDR space and currently sit on numerous boards spanning geographies and technologies. ๐ค So do we really need another one? Is this leading to association overload and fragmentation for an already small s

โ๏ธ When Italy goes low, Denmark goes high
๐ค Is European industry losing its competitiveness because of the EU ETS, as Italy and many other countries are arguing? Not according to Denmark! ๐ช In fact, the relentless climate pioneer think the ETS is not going far enough. ๐ฉ๐ฐ Denmark just introduced a national CO2 tax of โฌ17/tCOโe in 2026, increasing annually to roughly โฌ48โ50/tCOโe from 2030 for ETS-covered installations. This means that facilities in Denmark will have to pay the ETS price PLUS the domestic tax. ๐ช

๐ฎ๐น How Italy plans to kill the ETS ๐ฎ๐น
๐ช Are you following how Italy is trying to break Europeโs most successful climate policy? ๐ซฃ As an Italian myself, this is not easy to write. But it is necessary. ๐ญ Here is how: under Article 6 of the just passed โฌ3b โDecreto Bolleteโ, the Italian government would reimburse gas-fired power plants for the exact costs linked to ETS compliance. ๐ Without touching the ETS itself, Italy's move, if approved or replicated, could become a template that structurally undermines the

โท๏ธ The Olympics are back in my hometown - and Iโm torn
๐ Exactly 70 years ago, Cortina dโAmpezzo hosted the Winter Olympics. My grandparents - Argia and Piero - seized the opportunity, borrowed money from friends and family, and built Villa Belvedere. ๐บ๏ธ Nowadays, I run this family business together with my mother (yes, I have a life beyond CDR), and three generations live in this house. The Olympics put the beautiful Dolomites on the global map, and until today we all benefit from the boom that it brought. Today, the Olympics
